The Story Behind CJL Photography

Hi, I’m Corey Lankowski, founder of CJL Photography.

My passion for photography started at a young age, from using disposable cameras and early Kodak models with prism flashes, through to digital point-and-shoots and mobile photography. Over time, that interest naturally grew into something more serious when I began serving on the photography team at my local church, working with a Canon 80D and gaining real experience capturing live events and genuine moments.

Photography has always been something I’ve been drawn to, but it wasn’t until later in life that I made the decision to turn that passion into a profession. After facing some health challenges and receiving a late diagnosis of mild autism, I realised it was time to move away from simply doing whatever work I could, and instead pursue something that was both meaningful and sustainable for me.

With the incredible support of my wife and close friends, I took that step, investing in professional equipment and building CJL Photography with the goal of helping others capture and preserve their most important moments.

Today, I specialise in event photography, working across corporate functions, charity events, and special occasions. I’m committed to delivering high-quality, authentic imagery that not only preserves memories but can also be used for marketing, promotion, and storytelling.

I continue to invest in my gear and skills to ensure I can provide the best possible results for every client. For me, it’s about more than just taking photos, it’s about capturing moments that matter, in a way that lasts.

A Little About Me

If I’m travelling somewhere new, it’s rare that I’m without my camera. Photography is not just a profession for me, it’s a constant presence in my day-to-day life.

Many of the moments I value most are from time spent away with my wife, where I’m naturally drawn to capturing the details and atmosphere of each experience. It’s not uncommon to see her sharing glimpses of me in the process, quietly focused on creating images that reflect those memories.

For me, photography isn’t something I switch on and off. It’s an ongoing part of how I see and document the world, both professionally and personally.
